Cardioprotection of Rosuvastatin Pre-conditioning on Myocardial Ischemia / Reperfusion Injury in a Rat Model BABT
Zhang,Pei-Xi; Zhang,Hong-Xia; Hou,Dai-Liang; Xiao,Zhi-Chao; Zhou,Cheng-Yun.
Abstract This study aimed to investigate the cardioprotection of rosuvastatin pre-conditioning (R-Pre) in a rat model of myocardial ischemia / reperfusion (I/R). Male SD rats were assigned into three groups: sham group, I/R group and R-Pre group. Rats in I/R group and R-Pre group received ischemia for 30 min and reperfusion for 2 h. In R-Pre group, rats received intragastrical administration with rosuvastatin at 5 mg/kg once daily for 1 week. After 2-h reperfusion, the cardiac function was detected by ultrasonography; the blood was collected for biochemical analysis; the heart was collected for the TUNEL staining and immunohistochemistry for Bcl-2 and Bax. Our results showed rosuvastatin pre-conditioning for 1 week could significantly reduce the infarct...

Possible mechanisms involved in the effect of the subchronic administration of rosuvastatin on endothelial function in rats with metabolic syndrome BJMBR
Lozano-Cuenca,J.; Valencia-Hernández,I.; López-Canales,O.A.; Flores-Herrera,H.; López-Mayorga,R.M.; Castillo-Henkel,E.F.; López-Canales,J.S..
Metabolic syndrome is a multifaceted condition associated with a greater risk of various disorders (e.g., diabetes and heart disease). In a rat model of metabolic syndrome, an acute in vitro application of rosuvastatin causes relaxation of aortic rings. Since the outcome of a subchronic rosuvastatin treatment is unknown, the present study explored its effect on acetylcholine-induced vasorelaxation of aortic rings from rats with metabolic syndrome. Animals were submitted to a 16-week treatment, including a standard diet, a cafeteria-style diet (CAF-diet), or a CAF-diet with daily rosuvastatin treatment (10 mg/kg). After confirming the development of metabolic syndrome in rats, aortic segments were extracted from these animals (those treated with...

Rosuvastatin prevents myocardial necrosis in an experimental model of acute myocardial infarction BJMBR
Dourado,P.M.M.; Tsutsui,J.M.; Landim,M.B.P.; Casella Filho,A.; Galvao,T.F.G.; Aiello,V.D.; Mathias Jr.,W.; da Luz,P.L.; Chagas,A.C.P..
Dyslipidemia is related to the progression of atherosclerosis and is an important risk factor for acute coronary syndromes. Our objective was to determine the effect of rosuvastatin on myocardial necrosis in an experimental model of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Male Wistar rats (8-10 weeks old, 250-350 g) were subjected to definitive occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery to cause AMI. Animals were divided into 6 groups of 8 to 11 rats per group: G1, normocholesterolemic diet; G2, normocholesterolemic diet and rosuvastatin (1 mg·kg-1·day-1) 30 days after AMI; G3, normocholesterolemic diet and rosuvastatin (1 mg·kg-1·day-1) 30 days before and after AMI; G4, hypercholesterolemic diet; G5, hypercholesterolemic diet and rosuvastatin (1...
